SUPERNATURAL SIGNS I SAW IN THE PHILIPPINES

MIRACLE IN GILMORE AVENUE QUEZON CITY PHILIPPINES

The year was 1998, one sunny afternoon, in Gilmore Avenue, Quezon City, Philippines.

I was driving a Toyota Corolla XL (manual steering) which I borrowed from my eldest sister, Lulu.

I was alone in the car, a bit hungry, having skipped lunch, and was rushing towards home.

My speed was 40-50 kph and so was that of the others on the road.

I was trailing a Honda (honestly I now don’t remember the make/model). Another vehicle was behind me, the appearance of which I also forgot.

You may ask why I failed to notice such details.

Well, I never had had the slightest idea what was about to unfold that afternoon, so why would I have fussed over model of cars around me?

Besides, what I would experience this day had never happened to me since I started driving back in 1987.

This event was both surprising and puzzling, to say the least.

THEN CAME THE INSTRUCTION

Halfway the stretch of Gilmore Avenue, inside of me, I received this instruction: “You need to move to your right.” 

At first, I said, “Am I thinking aloud?”

But as I pondered, I realized it didn’t come from my own thoughts.

Why would I suddenly decide to change lane at that point, considering the following:

 

> Gilmore Avenue was a one-way road, not conducive to run on either side due to uneven surface or potholes;

> At my running speed of 40-50 kph, I’d soon be reaching the end of the road, so why bother to switch lane or overtake another car;

> On an empty stomach, I felt weak and lazy to turn to the right for it was a manual-steering car;

> Finally, I had passed on that road for years; and I never tried to overtake nor change lanes before

Therefore, I resolved to stay on my lane, dismissing the “suggestion” as mere musings.

But what happened after that surprised me all the more.

Again, it came, “You need to move to your right.”

Now, I would like to clarify with you, my readers, that I DID NOT hear voices.

I was sure it was not being spoken to me as an audible sound like what we normally hear when a person is talking to us.

Actually, this instruction came via intuition, which according to the Bible scholars, is the faculty of our human spirit. 

Much in the same way that the ancient Prophets of the Holy Bible described how they heard from the LORD, as follows:

Prophet Jeremiah and Ezekiel

"Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying..." (Book of Jeremiah 2:1, Holy Bible, King James Version, KJV)

"And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying..." (Book of Ezekiel 12:17, Holy Bible, King James Version, KJV)

IT HAPPENED SO FAST

It happened so quickly that I never realized in what language it was delivered; but the warning got more intense.

Though I suddenly felt its urgency, I never got nervous.

I felt an inexpressible calmness inside the car.

I began to examine the right side of the road while trudging along, waiting for the right moment to switch lane.

I never had the slightest idea that an accident was in the offing; so naturally, I was still hesitant to switch lane.

For the third time, it came again, “You need to move to your right, now...”

Suddenly it dawned on me that it was from GOD. The same feeling enveloped me as when I first encountered the Lord Jesus Christ, 16 years ago, back in July 1982; there was a feeling of His warm presence, an embrace.

I obeyed GOD by switching to the right lane; but I felt puzzled as to why I did so -- as if about to park in the middle of the road?

Then after what appeared to me as 3-4 seconds, the car behind me suddenly lost control and smashed right into the car ahead of me.

What a great crash. Broken pieces of glass splattered over my windshield; but my car was spared from any damage.

There I was inside a borrowed car trembling, baffled, but was so grateful to GOD.

All the three cars stood still on the road causing a sudden build up of traffic in that busy district.

My knees were shaking and I could not even begin to move.

I saw people coming toward the scene, perhaps they were wondering why there was no damage in my car. 

I AM NOTHING

You might ask: “With all your shortcomings and blunders as a person, how dare you make such an astounding claim?”

I admit my nothingness. Heaven stands as a witness, how I’ve been asking GOD every now and then to cleanse me from my sins as a human being.

But what I just shared with you should not focus on myself: a mere mortal.

I aim to magnify GOD Almighty. The primary role of a follower of Christ is to reveal what GOD has done in his or her life.

Jesus said to all His followers, before ascending to Heaven after rising from death:

“You shall testify about Me... even to the ends of the earth.” (Book of Acts 1:8 in the Holy Bible)

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

I was seven years old when I overheard two ladies talking about repentance and salvation. It was our family friend, Luisa, leading my elder sister Fe Fuentes, while on her deathbed, to accept Jesus Christ into her heart as Lord and Savior; the year was 1973.

Later that night, when left alone, I decided to pray the same Prayer of Acceptance which I heard.

I asked the Lord Jesus Christ to enter my heart, to cleanse and forgive me for all sins, and to be the LORD and SAVIOR of my life.

I was really expecting to see how GOD would enter a child's heart. However, while waiting, I laid myself down and fell asleep immediately.

Years later, as if I forgot all about my prayer, I began to live as a teenager like anybody else did – tasting what the world had to offer. 

But I would always feel heavily conscience-stricken every time I’ve committed a sin. Deep emptiness inside drove me to search for answers. 

Finally, in July 1982, I was 17 years old, my elder sister Edna Fuentes arrived from college Theology class and revealed to me a startling Bible verse:

Book of Revelation 21:8, Holy Bible which reads as follows,

"All these people are reserved for the lake of fire which is the everlasting death: the cowards (afraid to accept the truth); the unbelieving and faithless; those who are defiled doing what GOD loathes; the murderers; the lewd; the sexually immoral; those who practice occult arts (witchcraft); the idolaters (those who give spiritual devotion to anyone or anything except GOD alone); and all liars (those who knowingly convey falsehood by word or deed)."

Suddenly, I cried that very hour. My eyes got opened that I was displeasing GOD.

I came back to Him in repentance. This time, I felt the supernatural presence of Jesus Christ so close. He filled my questions with meanings, and my emptiness with gladness.

The Bible came to life as if I was inside of it. It was like, “Wow, I never saw these things before!”

THE HEART OF THE HOLY BIBLE: JOHN 3:16

"For the Living GOD so loved and dearly prized all the people in the world, that He gave to be sacrificed His only begotten SON, Jesus Christ, as an atonement for sin (the cumulative sins of the world). So that whoever begins to trust, rely on, and cling to Him - believing in His vicarious death in Calvary - shall not perish in hell; but to have eternal life in the Coming Kingdom of GOD."

My perspective in life quickly changed. Previously, I thought I was the captain of my ship sailing at will - indulging my senses with the world of lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and pride of life - and doing religious rituals, but still having a sinful lifestyle.

But now, my Captain is the Lord Jesus Christ; and my compass, the Holy Bible; and my task, the Great Commission - to spread the Gospel of repentance to all mankind. 

Jesus Christ told His disciples after rising from the dead and before ultimately ascending into Heaven:

“All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I Am with you always (perpetually and on every occasion), even till the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

DIVINE MANIFESTATIONS OR COINCIDENCES? 

Right after my encounter with the Lord Jesus, I became active in Christian and Biblical prayer intercessory meetings, worship services, and Evangelism conferences with many believers from different walks of life.

Then I found myself explaining to people the need for repentance, acceptance of Jesus’ Lordship over our lives, and of reading the Holy Scriptures. 

On couple of instances, I preached even to the drunkards, and they would stop, listen, and began to cry repenting from their sins as they appeared to be suddenly turned to sobriety.

One instance happened in Manila in 1987; and the other one took place in the province of Laguna, in 1990 - both in the Philippines.

The people I preached to later on became believers. However, I had not known whether it was through me or other preachers prior to me that influenced their conversion.

GOD must be prominent, and preachers must be less so. The Message is always greater than the messenger.

The Lord Jesus Christ says,

“Whoever has My commands and obeys them, he is the one who really loves Me. Whoever loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I too will love him. I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.” (John 14:21)

MORE DIVINE MANIFESTATIONS FOLLOWED

From 1982 up to now, I, and many fellow believers, have seen these different manifestations of the presence and power of the Biblical Living GOD: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, such as the following:

(1) While we were praying in a Bible Study, a lady saw a huge white dove hovering over us inside a home in Cainta Rizal, Philippines, 1992 (dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit);

(2) While I was preaching, a person in the audience saw a vision of these words in flames of fire, “This is a message from GOD”. This took place in Intramuros, Manila, 1990);

(3) GOD answered my prayer for a wristwatch when I prayed for one; and it came in such a mysterious way for three consecutive times from 1990 up to 1994;

(4) GOD miraculously delivered me from swindlers trying to ensnare me on various occasions - 1990, 1998, 2006, 2008, 2009;

(5) GOD healed me from a growth of flesh that was needed to be surgically removed,1993; and it never came back until now (glory to GOD);

(6) GOD solved an impossible speech medical condition of our family member, confirmed by two large hospitals, 2005;

(7) I saw how the power of the Name of Jesus Christ triumphed in a spiritual battle that erupted in a certain public high school in Paco, Manila, 1990;

(8) GOD answered my family's prayer to immigrate to Canada amidst the insurmountable odds in the Philippines, 2009; and,

(9) Then in Canada, I also saw other eleven (11) different manifestations of GOD in Toronto

GOD OF THE HOLY BIBLE IS ALIVE

I tell you, GOD Almighty is alive as spoken of in the Holy Bible. He cares for us all mankind, and no matter who you are, or whatever blunder you may have done in the past, He truly loves you, cares for you, and He has a grand plan for us all.

You see, I am not an extraordinary person; neither am I somebody to look up to. In fact, in school and career, I am an average person. 

I have also sinned a lot against GOD and fellowmen for which I am deeply repentant about.

However, we are serving the Almighty Being who forgives sins and does not play favorites.

GOD can choose anybody He wants to use or to manifest His power to.

That might be you or your loved ones in these last days before the Lord Jesus Christ physically returns to earth on His promised SECOND COMING. 

GOD has set a day wherein to judge the whole world for sins and rebellion against His declared will and commands.

Thus GOD needs people to show forth His forgiveness and glory. He wants us to come to repentance and accept the Lordship of His Son, Jesus Christ, over our lives.

Let us all renounce sins and Satan's deceptions. Time is running out.

CONCLUSION

It is written in the Holy Bible by the Prophet Joel, chapter 2:

"Blow the trumpet. Sound the alarm. Let everyone tremble in fear, for the day of the LORD’s judgment is coming."

GOD says, “While there is time, turn and come to Me with all your heart, until hindrance is removed; and our broken fellowship, restored. Give Me your hearts in fasting, weeping, and mourning.

“Rend your hearts and return to GOD, for He is merciful; slow to anger, and abounding in love. He will forgive when His conditions are met.

"Then you will know that GOD is in the midst of Israel, saying: 'I Am the LORD GOD and there is none else. Never again will my people be disgraced'.

"I will pour out of My SPIRIT upon all flesh; and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, men shall have dreams, youths shall see visions. I will show signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, blood, fire, and smoke.

"The sun shall be turned to darkness before that great and dreadful day when the LORD comes. 

"But whoever shall call on the Name of the LORD in repentance shall be delivered and saved.” Amen.

SINNERS' PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

“Dear GOD THE FATHER,

"I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness.

"I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sins and that You raised Him to life.

"I want to trust in Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord [owner of my life]; from this day forward. 

"Guide my life and help me to do Your will according to the Holy Scriptures.

"I pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”
